Kryn sat in the back seat of his families car [OOC: <_< Which honestly should've been at least mentioned last post before one makes any corrections] and looked out the window wearing his hoodie half zipped and his hood down. As he watched the passing scene go by, he yawned. I'm more tired than I though, he though.

Rubbing the tears from his eyes, he looked at Faolan and asked, "When's the last time you were out of uniform, Fao? You look great, either way, but something different can be good sometimes."

He turned his head back towards the passing outside, resting his head on his hand.

It was rather awkward to be flattered openly by her Principal, but she simply nodded in acceptance.

"True, it's not often, my bein' out of me work clothes an' all. Though, respectfully, sir, I'm never off the clock in protectin' ye."

Even when not on the clock during the school's hours, she was almost always in her own sort of uniform. Usually it consisted of a fitted shirt and pants, both black and covering down to wrists and ankles. Often in the evenings she also wore black leather wrist guards that had a strap wrapping around the palm and small spikes on the dorsum. Those outfits allowed her to carry at least ten knives and at most twenty.

Regardless of apparel, she always made sure she was fully equipped to protect the scion of Cluskia house. The car pulled up to the restaurant and she got out first, scanned the area quickly, then held the door open for him.

Kryn chuckled, lightly fogging the window, "Yeah, I guess that's true."

The car stopped. Kryn sat there because for some odd reason, he seems to be treated like royalty. Or a rich guy, which he actually is, so it fits. Faolan had opened the door for him and he stepped out and said, "Thank you, Ms. O'Connor. Seems as if it's not a very busy day, huh?"

Faolan looked around again, having not noticed whether there were a lot of people around or not. Before she'd simply been identifying threats and non-threats, gauging possible defensive and offensive vantage points, and mapping escape routes. When she looked this time, she saw that he was right. Good. That just meant there were less possible problems.

"Seems so, sir." She said while closing the door and instructing the driver to do as he wished until she messaged him to get them. Turning to the young master beside her, she gestured towards the restaurant in front of them, "Shall we, sir? The reservation is under my surname."

Kryn nodded and flipped his hood onto the top of his head so as to hide his hair, He didn't want people asking "how did someone so old get to look so young?" Over the years, it's gotten annoying, the speculation he was old based only on his hair color. It may not have been everyone who does this, but the fact that people do it in general got annoying.

He sighed and walked inside the restaurant. He looked around and noticed that the restaurant wasn't as empty as the outside predicted. Though it wasn't as full as the owners would want it to be. A man motioned him to a counter and asked, "Do you and your mother have a reservation?"

Kryn was momentarily stunned at this point, wide-eyed and open mouthed. He was tempted to yell at the guy, but held it back. He just turned around, took a few steps, and said to Faolan, "I just can't do this, your turn..."

The dark haired woman would have arched an eyebrow had she not been insulted herself at being called his mother. She simply nodded before striding forward and smiling sweetly.

"I sincerely hope that you do not regularly assume the age and personal details of your clientele, as it would be horrifically unprofessional." She said, "I'm quite sure that the owner would be none too pleased to hear of this incident involving one of his VIP guests, but he certainly will if my employer and I are not seated at the table with the finest view this instant and served impeccably the rest of our stay."

For a moment the man stared at her looking as if he'd just seen his mother flayed alive, but he quickly sputtered into action. Embossed leather menus were shakily plucked up and hugged to the man's chest as he stumbled over himself escorting them to the specified table up on the second floor as quickly as decorum would allow. After he stuttered over an apology while bowing and left, she calmly opened her menu and looked up at the young man across from her still smiling.

"Sorry about that, sir. Shouldna' happen again, though."

Kryn followed behind, Faolan and looked around. Couldn't see much, everyone being to freakishly tall to him. What the hell am I kidding, he thought, I'm just so short. I'm like a junior high student.

Brushing the matter aside, Kryn thought of food. He sat across from Faolan and picked up his own menu. He was already debating between Chicken Marengo and Coq au Vin when Faolan spoke. He replied, "It'll happen again, don't worry about it. I'm four feet tall, Ms. O'Connor. Four feet and four inches."

He set his menu down, deciding on Coq au Vin. He waited for a waiter and chuckled as he realized he was waiting for a waiter. He knew it was a childish thing to laugh about, but he didn't care, he was hungry.

As a man came by and stopped at their table, Kryn stated his order. The man turned to Faolan next and awaited her order.

A slender eyebrow arched and her irritation rose. It sure as bloody hell wouldn't happen again at this restaurant if she had anything to do with it. Disrespect to herself was one thing and she often just let it pass because she had a reputation to be concerned with. However, disrespect to a young man she'd come to care a great deal about and was currently employed by was inexcusable. She shook her head to clear her thoughts and turned her attention to the menu.

She hadn't eaten breakfast this morning unless tea counted and she was sure it didn't. When the waiter came, he had a thick French accent so she made it easier for him by ordering in his native tongue.

"Je voudrais le Boeuf Bourguignon s'il vous plait. Et chaud café. Merci."

After handing him the menu, she turned to her principal, "It shouldn'a matter how tall ye are, sir. Disrespect be disrespect."

Kryn leaned back in his chair a little, balancing on the two back legs and his toe. Well, he would if he were tall enough. What really happened was he swung his feet a little under the table. He rested his chin on his right fist, elbow on his knee, so he was even more hidden behind the table, head still in sight, luckily. He gave Faolan a little smirk which may or may not have been annoying, and said, "Tell me, Fao, would you have to respect a stranger you knew nothing about? Would you automatically assume that a four foot tall person walking up to your station with their hood on, walking into the building with a clearly mature young woman, were mother and son? Keep in mind that you might've seen these two people stepping out of the same car, increasing the suspicion that they have any sort of relation. I would have in his position, and if you would assume that the short person were a fully grown adult, you must be," he paused for a small laugh, "psychic."

Her coffee came rather quickly and she was relieved because she actually could use the caffeine. Usually she drank tea but sometimes and with certain things she liked coffee. Da never touched the stuff, preferring to drink strong tea instead but ever since she'd had that job in Italy with the pastries and cappuccino in the morning she developed a taste for it.

"To be honest, sir, in any line of customer focused work one can never take anything for granted. I couldn'a tell you how many times either my client or I meself would've been dead if I took things for granted." She paused to sip her coffee before continuing, "I canna say I saw things from his perspective, but he just plain was oversteppin' his bounds in assuming anything about ye, sir. Especially when he's the first contact a customer has with the restaurant. It's just simple not on. I'da fired 'im on the spot were I his boss."

"He wasn't overstepping any boundaries when I look like this. I doubt his boss would assume me as an adult as well. Besides, a simple mistake wouldn't get someone fire, otherwise there would be a lot of homeless people. Even you'd have been fired long ago that time I escaped. By the logic of little mistakes getting one fire, you'd have been thanked for saving my life then fired for letting me out of your sight in the first place."

Kryn left that hanging in the air as his chicken appeared before him. He looked up and thanked the man who brought it. After chewing and swallowing a piece of the chicken, he said, "My point is, people make mistakes and there's no reason to condemn them to hell because a small one that anyone would make was made."

He continued to cut another piece of chicken and put it in his mouth.

Le Fontaine Empty Re: Le Fontaine

Post by Guest Tue Jan 29, 2013 11:36 pm

A smile that was rather placating spread over her lips as her own meal came. The kid was wrong, plain and simple. He'd never had a job other than the one he was performing now and even that had been given him by inheritance. While it irritated her that he would just spout things as if they were made fact solely by him saying them, it wasn't her job to correct him. She wasn't raising him, she was protecting him. Which brought up another issue.

"I could not have been fired due to negligence on the principal's part, sir. It says as much in the contract your father and I signed. So no. Seeing as how you left the property without telling me of your own volition, I'm not liable for that. My job isn't to confine or babysit ye, it's to protect ye. And I did that." All this was said in a gentle tone, as she didn't want to bring up painful memories about his father. She also had liked the man, they'd met a few more times after the initial meeting to make sure he was comfortable choosing her for the job.

She took a bite of her own meal and it was quite good. As for the coffee, she added a spot of cream that had also been provided by the waiter. It was as delicious as she remembered it being in Europe. She took another sip.

Kryn being a simply stubborn in nature, as most rich folk are, looked up from his food and said, "Ah, incorrect. You see, you weren't protecting me when I left, were you? Anything could've happened. The only thing was that you found me. If you hadn't... And that contract also made you a special case. The mere fact that you had saved me in the first place saved your job. Had you had no contract and had been hired as a simple bodyguard, you would have been fired, right then."

Before Faolan could reply, he said, "Hush. Who's father was he? Mine. I would know him better than you would." His voice wavered as he said the second "would." He coughed to cover it up, but he got all sad inside. He cut a bigger piece of chicken and shoved it in his mouth to help.

Le Fontaine Empty Re: Le Fontaine

Had she not known it would only irritate him, she would have offered some consolation. She'd have meant it, of course, but consolation words were just that. Words. They did nothing. She remembered from when her mum suddenly disappeared and Da said she wasn't coming home anymore. Even more, she remembered when she found out the truth. How Declan and Dylan had tried to make it better. How nothing could possibly do that.

So she didn't offer the shorter male across from her any condolences. They both had known the man and both had been touched by his passing, in their own ways. What the young master needed was a change of topic. And to eat faster. She did still have work to attend to, after all. As did he...

"Of course, I would have, sir. Only there was a contract. One that protects me job in just those types of situations." she gave a playful little smirk to show she wasn't being too serious, "How is your food, by the way? To your liking? I've only had that once before here, myself. It was good then, but sometimes chefs change."
