Personality:
Raishin is not afraid to tell you what’s on his mind when the need arises, but usually that bluntness is countered by his disinterest in getting involved with drama. He considers a lot of things drama and usually avoids it but his assertive and reckless personality often land him in trouble. If he does land in trouble, his stubborn and slightly arrogant traits lead him to see whatever it is through to the end.

Oftentimes this is a good thing and coupled with his protective and loyal tendencies it makes him a rather good leader. Raishin’s fierce, passionate, but logical approach to situations make him a figure that others don’t mind following. He has an atypical way of approaching and thinking about things but the fact that he remains a pretty principled person makes it easy to go along with him. The power and intensity he has along with the slight reservation around people make him popular with the opposite, and sometimes the same, gender.

Raishin speaks English, Japanese, and French all with a slight Bajan accent which is most pronounced when speaking English. He does not enjoy flying or being in places higher than trees. He likes to drink a lot of water for some reason and usually carries around a bottle of the stuff. His appetite comes and goes. The man can get ravenous for large amounts of food, nothing with preservatives as his sense of taste and smell are extremely high, and then can be fine for a few days. Though he likes beds and has nothing against a soft mattress, it’s not unusual for him to end up sleeping on the ground. He hates cigarettes. He hats the way they smell, the way they taste, and the way people litter them. It’s best not to flick your cigarette butt on the ground in front of this guy.

Special Characteristic:
Raishin has broad shoulders and an athletic build that while slender, is packed with strong and flexible muscles. His hair is smooth to the touch but unkempt and mussed in appearance, usually kept just barely shoulder length but it grows very quickly. Every so often Raishin will dye his hair some odd color because it does grow so fast, blue or red usually and occasionally green or white. Brown contacts usually cover gold-irises in eyes that are almond shaped and a bit Japanese. Raishin himself is Japanese and Barbadian, but his features are prominently Japanese. His speech has a slight Bajan accent and from time to time he’ll slip into it. When not in the school library or during working hours, Raishin dresses pretty well but usually in toned down colors. While in uniform, however, he always has something mussed no matter what anyone says. Either the first few buttons of his shirt undone and his tie loose or the vest completely unbuttoned and his tie stuffed in a pocket, he doesn’t like feeling restrained.

Ability Description:
Raishin has the ability to shift into a wolf in two phases. His full wolf form is abnormally large for a shifter due to complications from his past and from ground to shoulder he measures 5 feet. His half wolf form is about 7.5 feet tall and basically looks like this:

A very beneficial side effect of this ability is that Raishin heals extremely fast, about 80% faster than a normal human. His skeletal structure is extremely strong and flexible, allowing him to jump down from around 50 feet unharmed and the skill to do things such as parkour with ease. Any higher than that and he starts to feel the landing. He is able to partially shift meaning that he can shift parts of his body at a time if he chooses (ie. hand for claws, teeth for fangs, etc).

The sense of smell and hearing are much better than a humans, his nose is as good as an actual canine’s and his hearing is the same. The only benefit to his eyesight is that he is able to take in light from any source so that he can see properly in unlit situations. A drawback to these benefits is that Raishin’s control is still shaky when he is emotionally disturbed and he will partially shift subconsciously. For this reason he keeps himself to the Cluskio estate, including the Academy grounds, and avoids society for the most part unless the Headmaster sends him on a personnel liquidation errand.

When Raishin does shift into his second form, it is difficult for him to shift back and he often must stay in the Cluskia Forest for anywhere from a few days to a week or so before he is able to return to his human form. Despite having an extraordinary force of will, he does shift back to human form if he is seriously injured regardless of what is going on and will not be able to shift at all and exhibits none of the benefits (aside from healing) that come with his ability until his body is sufficiently healed. An internal injury, that of an organ being injured, requires him to wait until that organ is completely healed before any shift is possible.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

History:
Barbadian father (Johthan Okwaho) met Japanese mother (Kuroki Tsuinoshu) in America where both were raised but not born and lived for a few years until their son, Raishin was born during a storm. Johthan moved his family back to Barbados two years later and Raishin was raised on the island, later with two younger brothers until old enough to participate in his father’s business at 8 years old. Johthan Okwaho specialized in smuggling to and from U.S. Southern coast and South America’s Northern coasts. When his father was killed when, after refusing to be boarded by modern-day pirates, their ship was sunk. Ten year old Raishin was rescued and then forced to stay with the same men who had just killed his father. As he grew, the messy haired boy learned to fight very well via an extremely abusive and unforgiving kill-or-be-killed environment. He survived and flourished by gaining the captains favoritism and developing ruthless tactics and a merciless methodology. Years later, when puberty hit in an unnatural way at 12 ½ during a small night raid, Raishin discovered he was not just a normal human being but had been born into the minority of gifted individuals. Afraid of persecution he spent the next year and a half or so keeping away from his shipmates and struggling to keep his newfound abilities a close guarded secret while trying to get a handle on them.

Not long after, Raishin ended up selling out entire crew at 13 years old to highest bidder who was impressed with his brazenness and ability to fight. The same highest bidder offered Raishin another job for even more money and thus Raishin graduated from pirate to assassin at the age of fifteen. By now the young shapeshifter had gained enough control of his abilities that he could partially shift, into two forms. His first form, the first one he had been able to manage, was the half beast half man monster from the stories that terrorized young children. The second and more difficult to attain had been his second and final form, that of a large complete wolf about 3.5 feet at the shoulder. which increased his success rate in his newfound profession. When after a while his track record failed to have any unsuccessful jobs, the man kept giving Raishin more jobs. The only thing now was that he then started keeping part of the payment for himself, causing Raishin to break contact and start getting work in the same field on his own.

Five years later, at 18, Raishin finally manages to rustle up enough downtime to and capital go back home to Barbados and make a difference, only to find his family in shreds. His littlest brother dead in a gang fight at just 13 years old and his remaining brother steadily losing himself in drug addiction while their mother struggled to make ends meet. To keep her bills paid and trying to save enough money to put her troubled son into a rehab, the proud Japanese woman sometimes had to resort to selling herself to supplement the income from her job at the local library. Upon seeing the situation, Raishin stepped in immediately but was too late to save his sibling from a lethal overdose just weeks after coming home. To make matters worse, it was from drugs bought with money stolen from his newly returned older brother. After a year and a half of watching his mother gradually recover from the massive losses in her life and improve both physically and mentally until smiles were more often than the sad faces, Raishin was called at home. The Japanese woman had been walking into a grocery store unaware that it was in the process of being robbed and was shot to death. Immediately following her funeral Raishin tracked down the thieves and did a pro bono job.

Unable to stay in the same place his family had died in, Raishin left his home for good at the age of 20 and started working again in earnest. Not long after starting he formed a group, or rather a group formed around him, drawn to his unique style and he very easily assumed headship. He organizing them to perform jobs and missions that require more than one person at a time and at 23 became a very successful man in the underworld. A little over a year later a mission presented itself, seemingly entailing relatively little effort for a lot of money and involving an infiltration/retrieval gig. To his horror and surprise upon sliding over the room the thing was held via air ducts, the package was actually a heavily experimented upon gifted person.

In the chaos of getting into the facility, which had been more tightly guarded than his client led him to believe, the package was in the middle of being relocated when it woke up. The thing had become feral and extremely dangerous, slaughtering its relocators and everyone else in the room. Getting out of the institution from there became a catastrophic battle involving not just one but multiple crazed and scientifically tortured gifted ones on top of the facility’s own personnel. Raishin watched his people dying all around him, unable to get to them in time while under assault himself. He managed to save a couple of his people and used the gifts he had to get them relocated under some cover when he was brutally reminded of something. The vicious beast he’d first come across had found its way out of the main building and attacked the first breathing thing it saw. Raishin’s men.

Despite going so far as to shift into his first form to fight the thing, it had been enhanced while the 25 year old shifter had not. Raishin scarcely escaped with his life despite his ability to heal abnormally quickly. It was only later that he realized the creature had infected him with its blood during the attack and it was slowly changing him. With most of his people now dead and the few remaining being unfit to work, Raishin officially disbands what little of the group is left and leaves to again work on his own.

For the next few months Raishin tries to deal with the thing he’s been infected with, fighting an intense and dangerous bout of fever coupled with a strange sort of sickness that left him exhausted, hypersensitive, and in almost constant pain. After this odd illness passed he was for some reason just barely able to keep his gift in check while keeping himself busy with the business. After a short run trying to deal with it on his own he found that he could no longer keep himself from going berserk and ultimately shifting for almost no reason. As a result he tried to minimize the damage he himself was causing wherever he went by taking to living in the wilderness on his own. This worked but only as far as keeping his episodes contained, Raishin at 26, could still not quite regain the control over his gift he’d had just one year prior.

He traveled from wilderness to wilderness, always having to relocate himself while straining all his willpower to keep his now erratic gift under control. As a result of his forest hopping, he ended up in the one on the Cluskio’s family estate. The years of terminal disappointment and struggle to get a handle on himself had left him ill-tempered and the greatly increased amount of time spent in his shifted form due to his lack of control had made him very close to feral. It wasn’t long, however, for the current family head to figure something was disturbing the forest on his property and investigated. After a showdown in which the energy gifted man with much more control over his ability came out the victor Raishin was taken to the Cluskio manor, as taking the uncontrolled gifted to the school was too dangerous, and cleaned up.

Over time, the Headmaster assisted the 27 year old in regaining control over his shift forms again. After a couple more years of honing that control and developing his abilities, the Headmaster offered him a job at the school. Raishin chose to take the position of librarian, a laid back post where he could finally relax and do as he wished for the most part. Unless the second part of his job was needed. Upon learning of Raishin’s history in the professional underground, the Headmaster appointed him as a sort of defense outreach program. If a problem arose for the Headmaster, Tsuinoshu “The Hammer” Raishin would take care of it.
