An Inconvenient Headmaster
The phone rang and she checked to see who it was. The Library. That meant it was probably from that man and therefore for Cluskia’s ears only. She transferred it to the Headmaster’s office to let it go to his personal voicemail and went back to the stack of papers. Most of this mess was for the other staff members and she set to separating staff mail from Cluskia’s. Only a few ended up being for the boss and those she arranged from most important to least before gathering two other stacks of papers, pushing back from her desk, and rising from her ergonomic chair.
One more look up towards the entrance affirmed that no one was there or immediately close and she turned to the door behind and to the side. She knocked twice before opening the door but upon doing so, found that her precautionary efforts were for naught. He was nowhere to be seen.
“Balls.” She walked forward and set the mail on his desk along with most of the papers. Many required his signature but weren’t as urgent. One, however, was rather urgent indeed. She wanted to get that one in the mail with his approval as soon as humanly possible. Therefore it was imperative she find him. She sighed and pushed a handful of dark waves behind her shoulder. Why was he never anywhere convenient for her?
Not one to shirk her duties, she set to filing the other stack of papers in their correct spots in the wooden filing cabinets along the wall, swiping her card through the one closest to the Headmaster’s desk to unlock them all at once. After a stretch of moments filled with flitting efficiently about the room, she locked the cabinets and exited the room with that one urgent paper in hand. Standing right outside the door, Faolan racked her brain to try and figure out where he’d have gone in the middle of the day.
After long minutes that ended up with still no idea, she decided to fan out over the campus in a spiral. So, securing a pen designed for important signatures, she locked her desk and the Headmaster’s office before opening a side window and leaping out. She’d have to be quick, as she still needed to get the staff mail into the mail room before the afternoon was over.
